The Mt. Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park is located at the foot of the new Arthur Ravenel Bridge. It has the longest fishing pier in the state, a memorial dedicated to South Carolina veterans, a play park and concession stand.

Shem Creek is home to a number of great seafood restaurants such as RB's & Red's Ice House. Commercial shrimp boats return to the docks in the afternoon with their fresh catch which can be purchased right off the boats. Private pleasure boats tie up at the Shem Creek dock and their owners and guests can be seen enjoying a cool drink or a meal after a pleasant day on the water.
